Rep. Massie Moves to Impeach Sec. Hegseth Over Iran War

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) introduced articles of impeachment for Secretary of War Pete Hegseth today over his illegal waging of the U.S. war in Iran and other “high crimes and misdemeanors.” Massie announced the move in a speech on the Congressional floor this afternoon. 

Defending Rights & Dissent Policy Director Chip Gibbons issued the following statement in response to the announcement:

“Defending Rights & Dissent strongly supports Rep. Thomas Massie’s efforts to impeach Hegseth, including for violating the War Powers Resolution, extrajudicial killings, and attacking free speech rights. These affronts to our Constitution constitute the highest of high crimes, and it’s well past time for Hegseth to be held accountable by the Constitutionally prescribed remedy of impeachment.”
